Better than anticipated!

Loose spin-off of Fake Boyfriend series. Book 5 of boyfriend series required to understand the link between the two series. Loose spin-off because there is only a brief overlap between a couple of characters but the MC in Popstar is linked to one of the MC in book 5, Hat Trick.

I was hesitant in listening to this one because I thought it was going to be too predictably like every other bodyguard/star book but I am pleasantly happy with the purchase. I even had times that I couldn't sit still with the anticipation of what comes next.

I wish they would have kept with the dual narration that they used for the Fake Boyfriend series of Alexander Cendese and Iggy Toma but Iggy did not disappoint!

Can't wait for next one in this series to come out on audio. Until then I am going to go back and re-listen to the Fake Boyfriend series.

Good narration

I really liked this story when I read it so I decided to give the audio version a try, especially since it was narrated by Iggy Toma. I already loved him from the On my knees duet, and he didn't disappoint. I strongly recommend this book. Harley and his bodyguard are really good characters, Eden does a terrific job with the entire story.

so darn good

I adored this book. Harley and Bricks stole my heart. I liked the give and take that this book gave us. it had suspense moments which I liked. highly recommended.

Love and Blowing Stuff Up

Iggy Toma is amazing, and is the reason I found this book. The narration actually raises this wild collection of plot points and topics and hotness up into a really decent listen. There’s something about his voice acting that makes things just click for me.

I hadn’t listened to any related books in other series that I recall, so I can’t compare this to the other MB books or whatever this might cross over from. It was more than fun, though.

Somewhat personal note when it comes to action/adventure in MM books, there is often more adventure than action in terms of physical up close _conflict_ from the strong side (but I’m new to this genre).

I seriously would have liked to hear more about Brix’s enjoyment of his job when things get actually (briefly) violent and he’s in his element, instead of just hinting and implying that this group IS badass, because HELLO that finally peeked out near the end, that part came out and was _great_. It felt very real and powerful, it also balanced him as a character (and made me wonder what E.F. has been up to) but he wasn’t like that much.

He was everything else, so I really can’t complain much. Give me a guy who’ll go on a “blowing stuff up” non-date any day.

This book had so much, and I’m trying not to spoiler. There was:

boy band angst, absurd interior design, slapstick, philosophy, fate, hope, fame, fear, boredom and love- not in that order- as well as a very raw look at why coming out even when things ‘got better’ didn’t make things easier for many in the community.

That’s a lot to fit into a romance / action novel and it worked for me.
Entertaining.

Soooo swoony

What’s not to love about a bodyguard romance? But especially one where the big bad bodyguard loves having the smaller younger pop star dominate him. Such a fun story and the narration was impeccable.
