She's newly single and determined to never fall for a military man again.

He's a sexy officer who doesn't believe in love.

And they think they can handle a no-strings relationship.

Bless their hearts.

She’s no damsel in distress

Anna Martin's newly single and determined to never fall for a military man again. So when Mr. Swoony, sweep-her-off-her-feet saves her from a swarm of fire ants, she says thank you and sends this officer and gentleman on his merry way. But those dang butterflies in her stomach won't stop swarming now. She needs to get this man out of her system stat so she can get back to her to do list. One that does not include a sexy, blue-eyed, dimple-cheeked military officer.

He’s a knight in camouflage armor

Jackson Davis believes in family, football, and Uncle Sam. He treats people right, he takes his military uniform seriously, and he loves his dog, but he’s not built for true love. After all, if a man good as his daddy—his hero—couldn’t do it right, what chance does Jackson have?

And they think they can keep friends-with-benefits as a no-strings affair

Sometimes it's best to just give in and get it out of your system. Right? Neither of them are looking for anything long-term. It could be fun…Bless their Hearts. They’re both gonna end up with a big ol’ case of Southern Fried Blues.

Cultures clashing, taking another chance at love, finding yourself, rom com with spice.

This is not the first book in the series, but it can be read as a complete stand-alone. However I think you will get more out of it if you have read the other books as you have met some of the characters before. But don’t let that deter you. This can be a stand-alone. But it will make you want to read all the other books!

I listened to the audiobook of this, and loved it! I think that hearing the voices gives you so much more as a reader. You really can feel the emotions. You connect much quicker to the characters as well. These narrators were top notch.

I really enjoyed this irresistible romance! Anna felt blindsided when her military husband left her. Now she is trying to work, go back to school and find a new life for herself. She has a crazy meet cute with a southern charmer, but Anna is late for class and leaves him behind. When they meet again, the sparks fly. Anna is determined to do things on her own, and Jackson is determined to be there for her. Anna doesn't want to fall for a military man, and Jackson doesn't want to settle down. I loved the push/pull between them and their sizzling chemistry is palpable. My heart broke for Anna as she struggled to find her way, but soared as she learned to let go of who she thought she should be, and become her authentic self. Jackson was so sweet, caring, and patient with Anna and her quirks, and his family also, making me swoon over his southern charm. I fell hard and really cared for both of them, as I cheered for their HEA. I also loved their friends and family who were so fun and meddlesome, and added so much heart to this story.
I was completely captivated by Emma Wilder's performance, and the way she developed and expressed these characters, and their struggles so intimately, making each character come alive. She made this hilarious, emotional, and heartfelt romance even better.

Hilarious, emotional, and heartfelt romance!

"Pecan" is pronounced puh-kaan' not pee-can. The narrator did a fine job, but every time she said the word wrong, I flinched. It's no big deal if mispronounced once or twice, but repeatedly was distracting. The nut is arguably a prominent character in the story. As such, it deserves better treatment. The author purports to be an expert on Southern dialect, but she gets it all wrong. We can have southern accents without bad grammar. It doesn't make sense that Jackson has three master's degrees and can't speak well. The language used is predominantly back woods and uneducated. It's insulting to Southerners. Listen to President Jimmy Carter speak. That is a proper southern accent.

Please pronounce it correctly!
