Three mysteries. One magical mutt. Zero tolerance for squirrel nonsense.

Meet Toby—a rescue dog with a tragic past, a nose for trouble, and a serious bone to pick with evil witches.

When journalist and part-time witch Clarissa Page first meets Toby, she thinks she’s getting a quiet companion. What she gets is a furball with opinions, secrets and more than a touch of magic. Together, they form the least conventional (but most adorable) crime-fighting duo the West Country has ever seen.

Book 1: Ain’t Nothing but a Pound Dog

Murder. Magic. Mystery. Sammiches. Toby’s seen it all—and he’s not barking mad, thank you very much. Cursed and confused, he teams up with Clarissa to solve a murder, unmask a killer, and maybe—just maybe—get his paws on a sausage roll.

Book 2: A Curse, a Coven and a Canine

Clarissa’s coven is in chaos, there’s a creepy Pointy Woman lurking in the woods, and Toby smells danger (and biscuits). With help from a talking squirrel mafia and a hedge-dwelling witch, the team races to break a deadly curse before things go belly-up.

Book 3: Bark Side of the Moon

The moon is full, the magic is wild, and Toby’s tail is twitching. The final showdown looms, and it’ll take all of Toby’s courage (and at least two cheese toasties) to stop The Pointy Woman and save the day. Let the fur fly.

Perfect for fans of:

•Magical mayhem, quirky covens and supernatural suspects.

•Uniquely memorable sassy animal sidekicks

•Witchy cozy mysteries with bite (and bark)

•Talking woodland creatures inevitably plotting shenanigans

Warning: May contain enchanted squirrels, gothic hexers, biscuit bribes, and one very good boy who refuses to heel.

Perfect for fans of cozy paranormal mysteries, magical animals, and whimsical British charm—this trilogy offers a heartfelt, humorous journey through love, loyalty, and the power of second chances (especially canine-shaped ones).

This started out differently than what I'm used to. I'm very picky about narrators for stories I listen to. It's a "me" problem. I was going to DNF this because of the narrator's voice. But I decided to open my mind to a different voice. I'm glad that I did. Now I'm wanting to buy a dog.

This book does contain an overarching plot with builds though out all 3 books. I really enjoyed the characters and plot of the storyline. Toby is adorable and I loved seeing him discover his skills. The narrator did a wonderful job giving all the characters a voice and making this little adventure fun.

If you are looking for a cute mystery that has some action and will make you giggle this is definitely one to grab.

This review is for A Spellbound Hound Magic and Mystery Paranormal Cozy Collection: Books 1-3 by Jeannie Wycherley. Audiobook narrated by Victoria Meakin.

I started reading the books in this series partway through so when I saw the opportunity to listen to the first three books on audiobook, I jumped on it. I expected that I would’ve missed out on some character development, but had no idea of the story arc that took place in these first three books regarding Toby Clarissa and the Pointy Woman.

Ain't Nothing but a Pound Dog - 5 stars
I absolutely love Toby and wanted to see how he ended up with Clarissa. I felt so bad for what he had to witness with Old Joe and then being locked up at the pound. The conversations that he and the other dogs had were just so sad. It made me want to go and rescue them all. It was great to learn more about Clarissa too. Even though I had already read books 5 through book 9, and I had an inkling of how things would turn out for Toby, I was still in tears at one point feeling so bad for the little guy. It all ended up as it should.

A Curse, a Coven and a Canine - 5 stars
So happy that Clarissa and Toby have settled in. Poor Toby went through so much in the last book. His powers are growing and it’s interesting seeing what he can do. It isn’t all rest and relaxation for Clarissa and Toby. There’s something nefarious going on that affects Clarissa. Then Mrs. Crouch is hurt. Clarissa and Toby have to find figure out what is going on with the help of some of Old Joe’s acquaintances. This was a really enjoyable to listen to.

Bark Side of the Moon - 5 stars
This explains so much about Toby and Clarissa. Toby is so sweet and it absolutely broke my heart when he was upset and saying how he had failed Old Joe. Clarissa and Toby are trying to find the four Stone and they find that some of the things that they believed to be true weren’t. The story arc wrapped up so well and I can’t wait to read/listen to the next book!

The narrator did a great job voicing all the different characters, both animals and human. It was very easy to distinguish who is who.

Mesmerizing from start to finish. This 3 book box set is so interesting, full of action and very enjoyable.
With dog conversations in the pound to an inquisitive wander off leash in the park, you will love the witches, old people and unusual characters in the story line of this orphan adult life.
Recommended, clean, witchy, talking animal fun. I can see myself listening to this well narrated by Victoria Meakin set of books written by Jeannie Wycherley again.
