Holy baguette!

A brand new bakery has opened in Sun Valley. Cue a frenzy of excitement among the locals as they snap up the much heralded baker’s marshmallow muffins, terrific treacle tarts and berry spectacular Bakewells.

Toby, our beloved spellbound hound, is first in the queue to taste test the freshly prepared sammiches!

But when a spate of fatal poisonings shakes the local community to its core, it transpires Devon splits and Dorset knobs might be deadlier on the waistline than first thought.

There appears to be only one obvious suspect. However, in the interests of his favourite favourites, Toby wants to dig a little deeper. There’s a rat in the kitchen …And it isn’t Sal!

The eighth instalment in this wonderfully humorous animal paranormal cozy mystery series featuring Toby, a schnauzer-collie-whippet-terrier-thingie, is a magickal masterpiece. He will steal your heart with his cute cheekiness and loving warmth. This boy has some serious sass and super-stupefying skillz!

When someone dies after attending the opening of Clarissa’s friend DeeDee’s new bakery, Clarissa wants to help clear DeeDee from suspicion. Clarissa starts by interviewing the owners of other bakeries in Sun Valley to find out who would set up DeeDee. After the other bakers start to die, Toby, Moriarty and Stan start their own investigation to find the serial killer. This is a great series with fun characters, a lot of humor and a hoid mystery. The narration is also outstanding!

I was as entertained by this story as I was with the others in the series. Clarissa's friend was opening a new bakery, and Clarissa, Ed, Toby, and Sal were attending the opening activities. One of the attendees of the bakery opening was found dead the next day, and the police ruled the case as murder. Toby engaged his friends to help solve the case. I enjoyed the witty conversation and humorous scenes. My attention was gripped by the complexity of the murder case. I enjoyed David Winter's narration as his performance was entertaining. I was given a copy of the audiobook. I volunteered, without financial gain, to post this review which reflected my honest opinions regarding this audiobook.

I love the new duo of Toby and Sal. Sal is turning out to becoming quite the protégé. They both share a love of food. They are always looking for handouts. There is a difference between a "snack" and "second breakfast".

So, for two food lovers, this newest case was perfect for them. Yet it was also a dilemma. On the one hand there were many yummy pastries to be eaten but on the other hand, they could be poisoned. Luckily Toby and Sal have Clarissa to help them out. She uses her journalist skills to help on the case.

I have really grown to love David Winter as narrator of the audiobooks. He does an amazing job voicing all of the characters. It is great to have the same narrator for all the audiobooks. This was a really fun case that Toby and Sal worked to solve.

This is a wonderful fun audiobook and story. It is very original, with lots of great characters both humans and animals. Toby is the main character, a loveable enchanted mutt, who fancies himself as an ace wizard detective. His adventures start out innocently then become very complicated. I like the narrator. I listen at 1.7 speed. He does use lots of voices so easy to follow who is talking. I recommend this book and the whole series as it is very entertaining.
