His studies are soon cut short when the princess visits the Library and gives Cal and Raya a quest: the capital is afflicted with a dark magic, and they must find a way to stop it.

Together with Azamar, the Fire Mage, and Oswerg, the Earth Mage, Cal and Raya set off to the capital, where danger and strange magic await them. Secrets will be revealed, and new magic will be learned.

The characters were well dev

The author did a great job developing the characters and their relationships. Story was well conceived.

Weird twist on Avatar, but enjoyable nonetheless.

Okay, so this whole thing is just a fantasy re-skin of Avatar the Last Airbender. It's enjoyable, but once you see the similarities, you can't help but compare, and it sort of feels more like a fanfiction than an original story. Otherwise, the original elements of the story are fun, it progresses nicely, and the performance of the narrator is good. Overall, a very enjoyable book to an enjoyable series. Thank you.

Predictable progression and random magic skills

The plot progression moves in an even and forward direction not in a very interesting way. The MC is still a bit too naive and his childhood friend's flippancy makes her come across more of a smartarse, negatively affecting her likability. The MC's ability to enchant mundane items was not fully developed by the author and just sort of happened by touching items and thinking about it.

The unevenness of delivering justice was head-scratching worthy. While the boss antagonist was responsible to turning people over to the dark side and the protagonists killed many during battles, the boss only gets knocked-out and left alone.

Tim Gerard Reynolds performance was well done, the writing worked against him turning out his peak performance.

Unsure if I'll continue the series at this time.
