In the Shadow of the Moon

When Laura Truitt first sees the dilapidated plantation house, she's overcome by a sense of familiarity. Inside, the owner claims to have been waiting for years and offers an old photograph of a woman with Laura's face. Soon afterward, when a lunar eclipse inexplicably thrusts Laura back in time to Civil War Georgia, she finds herself fighting not just for her heart but for her very survival.

Whispers of Goodbye

Alone and with nothing left to fear, Catherine deClaire Reed answers her sister's desperate plea and travels to the cold comfort of her home in Reconstruction Louisiana. But Elizabeth is nowhere to be found. No one - including her husband - has seen her for days. Now Catherine must search for her sister in a place where secrets wait behind every closed door.

Karen White has absolutely moved to the top of my Favorite Author List! I haven't listened to one yet that I haven't been totally thrilled with. This book in particular is such a bargain for the credit. It is 2 complete books for one credit. If I didn't misunderstand what was said in the beginning, this book was her first two books published. They are truly fantastic books. The narrators are easy listening and definitely not distracting with their individual voices. With the hundreds of books in my library, I want another Karen White novel! Gezzz, that just means I have to buy more credits!

Don't let this one slip by you!! :)

VERY TOP OF MY "FAVORITE AUTHOR LIST"!!!!!

I was pleasantly surprised by both the stories and the narration.

I must admit that as I listened to the intro I didn't expect much. Here is another author who is a devotee of Diana Gabaldon (as am I) which led me to expect "rip offs" of Outlander series stories. This was nothing like that. The characters are richly created and developed. For the circumstances of the characters to bring tears to my eyes is an author's gift I dearly love. I highly recommend this book!

Didn't want it to end.

First book was slow to start but picked up and got good. The second book was weird and uncomfortable even in the ending... just sort of weird all the way around. Her tradd street series is hands down the best she writes and you can tell these were novice. Still interesting to see how she’s grown.

Meh... second book was uncomfortable

As others have said, the first book was better. There were many times in the second book when I was annoyed by the character's foolish nonsensical choices. The narrator in the second book made odd choices in phrasing and emphasis throughout the story. That said, Karen White's stories will always be some of my favorites.
