A struggling lawyer. A bitter custody battle. A deadly fire. This case could cost Kenzi her career — and her life.

Kenzi Rivera is furious. Passed over for promotion at her own father’s firm, the talented divorce lawyer is tired of fighting chauvinism every single day. When a desperate scientist begs for help getting her daughter back, Kenzi can’t resist…even though this client is involved in Hexitel, a group she calls her religion but others call a cult.

Kenzi uncovers evidence of disturbing practices at Hexitel involving large sums of money, servitude, and sex. She also learns her client’s lab has been plagued by death threats and cutthroat competition. After the workplace burns to the ground and her client is charged with murder, the ambitious attorney knows there is much more at stake than a simple custody dispute.

Can Kenzi find a path to the truth before she’s trapped in a maze of death?

Splitsville is the dramatic first book in the Splitsville Legal Thriller series. If you like gutsy heroines, diverse characters, and suspense, then you’ll love William Bernhardt’s twisty tale.

Critic reviews

Splitsville is a winner — well-written, with fully developed characters and a narrative thrust that keeps you turning the pages. William Bernhardt has not only written another expert legal thriller, but once again he has his fingers on the realities of the modern legal system, and his portrayal of a female lawyer struggling to succeed is honest and compelling." (Gary Braver, best-selling author of Tunnel Vision and, with Tess Gerritsen, Choose Me)

I am a fan of stories where everything comes full circle; where Karma delivers just deserts to those who deserve it. That’s just one of many reasons why I love this book.

Kenzi is a flashy divorce attorney with a huge social media following. But she faces the same challenges many women face in a man’s world. Even her own father fail to recognize her contributions to the family firm. But Kenzi won’t be stopped when someone needs her help.

If you like stories where the underdog sticks it to the man, then this is the book for you!

Masterfully woven plot and beautifully delivered narration and this audiobook knocks it out of the ballpark.

The beginning was a bit shocking, but the story kept me guessing! A strong enough narrative and characters to keep my interest and an engaging narration that was easy to follow while I was doing other light work.

Very engaging

If you’re reading to escape life then forget this book. Far left views. Covid nonsense. Don’t waste your precious credit on this drivel.

I enjoyed this legal mystery. The story was creative and a little far dubious but it was entertaining and kept my interest throughout. Right wing readers may not like the political views and I read some of the reviews that reflected that. I would highly recommend the book.

Clever story with twists

as I listened. I didn’t like the narrator’s voice. It had a quality that made me think it was always too loud, and less serious. I didn’t want to listen to something that didn’t have a serious goal reached by serious characters. As the story evolved and the final resolution was achieved, I was quite pleased with this book and will plan on listening to the second book in this new series.
