A freak shuttlecraft accident -- and suddenly Captain Kirk and most of his senior officers find themselves adrift in space, with no hope of rescue, no hope of repairing their craft, or restoring communications -- with nothing, in short, but time on their hands.

Time enough for each to tell the story of the Kobayashi Maru -- the Starfleet Academy test given to command cadets. Nominally a tactical exercise, the Kobayashi Maru is in fact a test of character revealed in the choices each cadet makes, and does not make.© and (P)1990 Paramount Pictures, All Rights Reserved; AUDIOWORKS Is an Imprint of Simon & Schuster Audio Division, Simon & Schuster Inc.

This is a really fun story. I love the old abridged Star Trek books. With the music and James Doohan’s narration it’s like listening to an excellent episode of OT.

For best listening use headphones for all of the old Star Trek audiobooks. The difference is astounding.

This is a really good story and expertly read, but for one credit, I would say it was a bit short for the price

Great story, kind of short for the cost

I loved how the author kept the characters true to how we have come to know und love them. Especially when Scotty debated with himself about what to do about a malfunctioning computer terminal. It always reminds me of when he threatened to reprogram another computer into a food synthesizer.

A damn good book.
