Love meets its toughest challenge: real life.

Hilary Mathews and Cate Herrera have built a life most would envy—seven years of love, laughter, and a quiet understanding that they don’t need rings or kids to feel complete. They’ve created their own version of forever, and it’s worked. Until it doesn’t.

When Cate’s estranged sister is critically injured in a car accident, Cate is suddenly the only person standing between four small children and the foster system. Without time to think—and without talking to Hilary—Cate says yes.

Hilary isn’t sure what’s more shocking: the kids now living in their guest room, or the fact that Cate made a life-altering decision without her. They’d agreed—no children. No chaos. Just them. But suddenly, everything they’ve built feels fragile.

And just when Hilary needs answers, a once-in-a-lifetime job opportunity lands in her lap. It’s everything she’s worked for—her dream career and a chance to return to California, closer to her own family. But Cate won’t leave the kids. And Hilary isn’t sure she can stay.

As their once-perfect life unravels, Hilary and Cate must confront what it means to love someone through the hard parts—not just the easy ones.
Is love still enough when your futures no longer align?
Or is this the moment where forever quietly slips away?

Still the One is a heart-wrenching, hopeful exploration of love put to the ultimate test. Not a second-chance romance—but a story about fighting for your first.

Cate was too stubborn and proud, and Hillary was a little bit on the selfish side. Plus, they lacked a bit on the communication side of things.

I totally agreed with Hillary's mother.

Then Hillary taking all the furniture while Cate had to care for four children was just really wrong. Especially since she's the one who could afford new.

Both of them ticked me off though Hillary took me off the most.

There is no steam or spice in this book, and virtual voice wasn't great, as usual.
