In the Royal States of America, magic rules all, but life—and love—always finds a way.

Latent horse empath.

Dishwasher. Closet chef. Future king.

When food poisoning sweeps through Dallas, Patrick Laycal doesn't expect a princess to show up at his door asking for his help. Her one, simple request dumps him in the middle of a royal mess—one that could cost him far more than just his life.

Out of the 447 books I’ve read this year this book has earned the #1 spot. I picked the book randomly from my library of unread books and dived right in. At first I wasn’t sure if I liked it. Its book is written from the male’s POV which normally isn’t my favorite. But I was intrigued enough to keep listening. I was hooked before I reached the end of the second chapter. I highly recommend this book and author!

The spoiled German prince is completely understandable but the RPS agent’s refusal to back down from the clearly stated regicide is just stupid. I really respected Pat from beginning to end and am glad that he and Jessica are, for the most part, the hearts of the Royals in the former United States and many of the other kingdoms of the world in this series. Excellent series starter because

What's the world to do when magic rears its head? For the United States, a second Civil War leads to everything braking down into royal states, and the return of kings, queens and a cast system. But that's really the smallest part of this book.
Strap in for an exciting read/listen.

An interesting start.

Interesting plots and characters. The repeated talk of horse breeding and horse slaughter drove me nuts though.

What a Twist
