It's one of the true Black Library classics, and one of the first novels to make the bad guys the heroes...and it introduced the mighty Warsmith Honsou, who went on to plague the Ultramarines across plenty of novels. It also pits the Iron Warriors against their oldest foes, the Imperial Fists, which is always a guarantee of quality action.

The story:

Quintessential 40k

I could hardly stop listening once this started.

Action packed. Full of hope and loss, triumph and tragedy. You will root for villains and heroes alike. Grimdark and magnificent.

40k isn't written like this, anymore.

Loved the focus on one major battle.

This is one of my favorite warhammer books. It let me to collect an iron warrior army.

1 of my 1st of 300+

The since of nostalgia was real for me. This was my first real insight into chaos marines. I was enraptured then as I am today. It makes you want to listen to every novel Honsou is in and you won’t be disappointed he’s a brilliant villain. He even makes listen/reading Ultramarines palatable. It’s a shame we only get the 1 audiobook.

amthe story is well put together will good narrative

this is my favorite 40 k book Soo good definitely one of the best written books

Great IW Book

Best Iron Warriors novel I've read yet. Definitely recommend it to anyone who enjoys IW or Guard.
