This program includes a bonus chapter, 'Beach House Dreaming,' read by Mary Kay Andrews.

Pull up a lounge chair and have a cocktail at Sunset Beach – it comes with a twist.

Drue Campbell’s life is adrift. Out of a job and down on her luck, life doesn’t seem to be getting any better when her estranged father, Brice Campbell, a flamboyant personal injury attorney, shows up at her mother’s funeral after a twenty-year absence. Worse, he’s remarried – to Drue’s eighth grade frenemy, Wendy, now his office manager. And they’re offering her a job.

It seems like the job from hell, but the offer is sweetened by the news of her inheritance – her grandparents’ beach bungalow in the sleepy town of Sunset Beach, a charming but storm-damaged eyesore now surrounded by waterfront McMansions.

With no other prospects, Drue begrudgingly joins the firm, spending her days screening out the grifters whose phone calls flood the law office. Working with Wendy is no picnic either. But when a suspicious death at an exclusive beach resort nearby exposes possible corruption at her father’s firm, she goes from unwilling cubicle rat to unwitting investigator, and is drawn into a case that may – or may not – involve her father. With an office romance building, a decades-old missing persons case re-opened, and a cottage in rehab, one thing is for sure at Sunset Beach: there’s a storm on the horizon.

Sunset Beach is a compelling ride, full of Mary Kay Andrews' signature wit, heart, and charm.

I absolutely love Mary Kay Andrews books. She is in my top 5 of favorite authors. I read lots of genres but when I want a real beach read she is my number one. I loved the book. The story was engaging and the twist was amazing. I didn’t fall for Jonah. I didn’t feel a spark between him and Drew. I kept waiting for the romance to kick in but it didn’t. YET, I can say I would still recommend this book to everyone. And I will listen to it again.. maybe I missed the Jonah spark. But because Mary Kay is my fave I feel I owe her to be honest.

Love Mary Kay big sparks fell short..

The story was good but I didn’t like Kathleen as the narrator. Her reading was too chopped up which made it difficult to listen to even after speeding it up.

Good story

The story timeline was unrealistic with the recovery from major surgery of the main character. Having the character deep cleaning and pulling up carpet in a cottage just a few months after is unrealistic. This coupled with a multitude of small story consistancy errors, ie mentioning glasses held together with a paperclip and then changing it to a bandaid in the next chapter, made me think no one proofed this book. I counted at least 6 of these errors.

I have read every one of this author's books and this is the first where I found the above mentioned situations.

I felt so invested in this book because of its location being one that I am so familiar with! Add in all the mystery of 2 separate cold cases and it made this one especially hard to put down! The narration was awesome, too, with all the different voices being so believable. I highly recommend Sunset Beach!
