Toby Drake is faced with a crisis of conscience when a beautiful woman shows up on his doorstep, battered, bloodied, and on run from a super-powered thug. Trained as an engineer prior to The Storm, Toby makes a living fixing other people’s broken electronics, hardly something that has prepared him to go up against a super. He quickly discovers that it’s one thing to hear about villains doing bad things, but another thing entirely to come face-to-face with them.

Not thinking twice, Toby does the right thing and gives shelter to an embattled woman, and the two end up hiding in an old mechanic’s shop that used to belong to Toby’s family. It’s in this shop that Toby is exposed to an unburied meteorite and is powered up with an unusual superpower—the ability to unlock and supercharge the powers of others.

What Toby doesn’t understand, however, is that his new superpower comes with an unusual side-effect, which is he ends up bonding with the women he powers up and mortal enemies of the villains he touches.

Really enjoyed but

Something things happened a bit faster than one would imagine. Ink walking to jump the MC was a bit fast as Silver Whip was a bit more well paced. I also think the story could've gone a more unique turn as the concept of the world is very interesting maybe the MC turning into a "villain" would've been for more compelling story. overall I really enjoyed it

Good Story, but.....

Good story but the narration lacked in certain areas. It was hard to tell whether there was another person speaking especially with the female narrator. In many of the explicit scenes, the female normally repeated the same thing regardless of the personage. Overall I did enjoy the story.

Slow start but picks up

Good story, the beginning was a bit slow but then it ended up speeding up and the story was very interesting. The main character seemed bland in the beginning but as he interacted with more characters he seemed more interesting. Love the mad scientist/ engineer vibes. The voice acting of the actress was spot on and amazing while the mc voice actor was good but for the most part didn't put emotions into the MC's voice. Only in 3 or 4 times did the MC have much emotion in the voice. Still recommend the book though.

A Fantasy for Modern Times

I liked the whole story. A curious twist on a potential end of times plot. You’ll enjoy it!

Top notch audio

The narration is top notch the story and plot are even better. The story starts off at a good point with enough intro and a captivating origin. If there was anything I’d want is a reminder of how long it had been since the storm occurred or state of the government
