A frozen lake…Cold-Blooded Murder.

A powerful man is found dead in his fish house on a frozen Minnesota lake, murdered, stabbed to death. His employees, family, and the local sheriff, all seem happy to have him gone - all except his personal assistant. With his death she is now forced to do something she thought she would never have to do, reveal secrets that will destroy the careers and lives of many - including a man set on being the next governor of the state.

Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension Agent Danny Carlisle has been given the assignment, her first as a lead agent, and she and her partner soon find they have too many suspects and too little evidence. But someone is doing them a favor, narrowing down their list of suspects by killing them off. The snow and bodies in Duluth accumulate, and Carlisle's boss is pushing her to find who is doing the killing, someone who seems to know her every move.

The voice was very clinical. There were lots of story bits that would have been better with a human voice.

I very much dislike virtual voice. The inflections are way off. I don’t like it .

I don’t know if it was the AI voice or the actual writing but I generally disliked the book. The plot and storyline was okay but the presentation lacked detail and interest. I assume the author writes the way he speaks. There were too many sentences started with “So,” “Alright,” or “Anyway,” that I could barely stand to get through the book. I was counting down how much time was remaining, because I’m no quitter and I had to finish. I was disappointed and surprised how anticlimactic the book ended. I don’t believe I’ll ever listen to another AI read book and I will not spend time reading anything else by this author.

The plot was fine

I got really confused with the voice not changing at all with different characters. There were times I wasn’t sure who was who. The story was great. It kept me wanting to know what happened.

The voice almost blew it
