Editorial reviews

At the Indy 500, exchanges between drivers off the track can be as explosive as those on the track, and Tony Carnaghi's lively and animated reading of Jack Arute and Jenna Fryer's book transports the listener to the front row of the action.

A single wrong turn, improper pass, or blown tire can spell defeat in the race, but they can also easily result in peril. Arute and Fryer expertly capture the drama and volatility of "The Greatest Spectacle in Racing" with this collection of riveting stories, and Carnaghi elevates their prose with a performance that makes it difficult to stop listening after hitting play.

Awesome stories about the inner workings of the Indy 500 and the teams/crews that make the show such a spectacle. I only wish that the narrator could have done just a little bit of research and not butcher so many names like Kanaan, Franchitti, and Ganassi (just to name a few).

Great stories, but my gosh the pronunciation

The content is gold. The author’s insight is unique. His storytelling is fantastic, honed from years on TV.

The narration sucked. The mispronunciation of well known driver names is unforgivable.

Details remembered from a long career

It was a little rushed and the constant mispronouncing of names was a little distracting.

Good stories and history summary

The book was great, well worth the listen. I love learning about Indy history.

The narrator was very hard to listen to he kept mispronouncing names it, it was brutal!

I did love the book though.

Bad Narrator

I loved listening to the stories in the book. Unfortunately some of the mispronunciations effected the way I understood what was happening. I had to look up to see who won the US 500 to understand his pronunciation of Jimmy vasser - prounced 'Vassier' by the narrator.

Great Stories- Rough mispronunciations
