Prospecting was a lonely business for Tappan, but his burro Jenet was good company, and more. She knew the trails and waterholes better than Tappan, from the scorching heat and poison air of Death Valley to the blinding blizzards of Arizona's mountains. Jenet tracked with him, faithfully, as his only friend. And he repaid her loyalty with a final, supreme effort of heart, will, and spirit.©1928 Curtis Publishing Company, Inc. Tappan’d Burro is and will always be a great story from the burro’s birth and her ——— I like to think her new family.

This is one of the shortest ZG stories and one of the saddest. I suppose if you're not an animal lover you may think it daft. But it's a favorite for me.

Sad and Sweet

Fall in love all over again with the little burro. She and Tappan have a special relationship that rises above all.

Such fine reading. Thank you Audible.

This is one of my favorite western stories. It isn't a lady in distress saved by a narrow hipped gun slinger. Instead it is a story that takes you to the open deserts of the Southwest and the mountain ranges around them. You feel the heat and the dust. You are filled with the silence and loneliness of these places but never alone because of the constant reliable companionship of the patient burro by your side.

Well narrated and unique

A thrilling and heart-warming short story about a man and his burro. Don't get between a man and his burro.

You ain't gonna eat my burro!
