Jane Lonsdale had been dismissed from her position at Miss Prism’s Academy because the music master had tried to kiss her. Jane went to her aunt, having no idea that the housekeeper had married Lord Pargeter, who promptly died. Neighbors at nearby Swann Hall were suspicious about the will, and Lord Fenwick, a visitor, decided to investigate. Though Jane’s past hinted of scandal, Fenwick was intrigued.

I hope Audible will quickly add more Joan Smith titles to their offerings; this one was a delight!
The storyline is lilting and captivating, the characters appealing, and the situations both poignant and humorous in turn. It was sort of like Jane Austen meets Hallmark Channel! I highly recommend this for a well written but light read…so refreshing!!!

Charming and humorous!

I love Joan Smith! This is one of her tamer stories in regards to characters but still a quick fun story.

Fabulous fun!

Pros: Very much in joan Smith’s style. Humorous and sweet.
Cons: Lots of American expressions used throughout and the narrator had an unusual style -a bit sing songy. I hope they find a better reader for any other Joan Smith books.
The narrator didn’t know how to pronounce ‘hyperbole’ properly. (Hyperbolee - not hyperbowl )

A gentle Regency Romance

Good story and narration. Has some witty and funny moments. Hero was realistic. My one quibble is that narrator made the 41 year old aunt sound like 71. The aunt just exited her 30s so she should still sound young. I think this is the only Joan Smith book in Audiobook, but her heros are almost all the same. Kind of like Betty Neels heros, which is probably why there’s only one Audiobook for that author, also lol

Nice read
