From Wall Street Journal bestselling author Jeff Wheeler comes the latest installment in the thrilling Invisible College series as the fate of the world hangs in the balance of two star-crossed lovers determined to unravel fate—even amid betrayals, a looming war, and twisted secrets of the past.

For now, the centuries-long war between mortalkind and the Aesir is quiet. Yet not over. With the coming of winter, a season in which the Aesir thrive, they will resurface. Only two people, united by magic, can stop them. But first they’ll have to survive more imminent threats to their lives.

Robinson Hawksley is of the tragic belief that his beloved wife, McKenna, has perished in a sorcerer’s fire—just as he is about to ascend to the highest rank in the magic order of the Invisible College. But as Robinson navigates political machinations, deception, and betrayal, not everything is as it seems. McKenna, a woman of uncanny mysteries, has been abducted as an offering to the Aesir that promises to end the invasion once and for all. Now she is running for her life.

To reunite, Robinson and McKenna have so much to learn about themselves and each other. Amid secrets, sacrifices, and long-dormant memories restored, they still hold the power to save the world.

This book is epic! The writing is amazing, the action intense. The story has depth, and there’s a whole lotta shakin’ going on. I cannot adequately describe in words what this fantasy thriller is like to read (or listen to). The saga of Rob and McKenna continues. The Aesir come knocking. And so much more! All elements of this fantasy thriller are just crazy good.

The narration is perfect. Kate Rudd is amazing. Kicks epic up another notch.

Would really give this a 4.9 due to a couple of brief moments (1 darting tongue).

Second reading was via audiobook, so I skipped ‘em for a full 5⭐️’s.

Epic.

I'm excited to read the 4th and final book. This isn't a usual read for me but I can't seem to put them down. Jeff Wheeler is a true architect of the word.

Great twist, I'm hooked.

This 3rd installment in the Invisible College series is by far the best one yet! The story, its characters, and the stakes at hand escalate around unexpected and surprising turns and twists which were deeply rewarding! I cannot wait to find out how this series concludes! But then, in the intertwining worlds of Mr. Wheeler, does any storyline ever truly conclude?

A spellbinding and Engaging plot-twister that keeps you intrigued around every unexpected corner until the very end!

I loved the third installment of The Invisible College. It has all the elements of a fantastic story: mystery, action, romance, plot twists. I really enjoy this narrator as well.

In this book, it is explained in detail who Robinson and McKenna are, and it starts 15 years before the creation of the Invisible College, when Isaac is still a student.
When his roommate goes away for his sister's wedding, Isaac, who doesn't socialize, meets a very sick woman that enters his life. It takes him time to adapt to the situation surrounding both of them.
The chapters go back and forth from years prior s, to the present day. You can pick up from the cliffhanger in book 2 here, where the Foster's house was burned down, and they can't find McKenna. They don't give up in spite of being told by the family that she's dead.
The woman he meets tells Isaac that she is Eiríka, daughter of Erlking. During the time she has left before dying, she teaches Isaac how her people came to Earth, and the stipulations that were agreed upon. She recounts all her knowledge, including how to create the Philosopher's Stone. From his antisocial persona, he starts changing, and being more considerate.
In the present day, they are trying to clarify who created the artifact first, debating over the patent. They are advised to contact the military, but they refuse because of all the damage the military has caused.
More details are explained about the Semblance in the past, while in the present day they continue to fight to save the human race.
