The language in the Assassin is extremely rough, with racial and sexist terms which make me cringe. However, it is a totally accurate portrayal of the thought processes and actions considered acceptable in that era, when grown women were called "girls" and minorities much worse. Despite the language, the characters are varied and unique and the plot is engrossing. Griffin was a brilliant writer, although with very outdated world views.

The first part is a bit slow but the background information is needed to grasp the ending. Once the main characters are brought into action ... It is hard to stop listening!

How can one admire an author whose mind harbors foul language that destroys Goodness, Truth, and Beauty.
