All told, this omnibus is over 130,000 words and it follows the journey of Matthew Campbell as he fends off the alien "Beat" invaders and learns the ropes of fighting a war for an evil galactic empire that couldn't care less if he lives or dies.

In this series, there are lots of action scenes, some cool technologies, mechanized marine units, and so much more. It grapples with the grandeur and the horrors of war as the story follows Matthew through the motions of war times. If you like Starship Troopers, The Red Badge of Courage, or Firefly, then this is the series for you!

Virtual voice lacking

Someday there may be an emotional virtual voice but I could not complete because there was no emotion in the reading. I would loose track where the book was going because of the voice.

Virtual voice

The use of virtual voice takes away from the story. It lacks the emotion and the ability to bring the story to life. Reconsider the use of this technology.

Good start so far

Nice character development. Engaging story. Can’t wait to see where it goes from here.

I’m used to virtual voice and didn’t notice any terrible errors.

Fun but lacking

It was a good story. The writing could use some more color. There wasn't much depth to it. It needed more descriptors of the action and locations. It leaves the reader to come up with what things look like.

The virtual voice is trash. It always is. AI doesn't pick up on phonetically spelled words, innuendo, or the emotion of the moment. It's just a cheap cop out to get the book out there.

story clarity

story and the characters were very good. the entire story is plausible and very believable. I would definitely recommend this story to anyone that likes a simple drama
