New York Times best-selling author Kimberla Lawson Roby has made a name for herself with such engaging novels as Casting the First Stone and Here and Now.

In The Best of Everything, Roby employs her trademark storytelling prowess to relate the tale of a woman whose life is complicated by the fact that her father is none other than Reverend Curtis Black.

Alicia Black Sullivan swore to never repeat her father's mistakes: she would never break any promises, she would never be unfaithful. And most important of all, when she got married, it would be for good. And she really does love Phillip, the assistant pastor of her father's church. She just happens to love money - and the things it can buy - as well.

Alicia was born to the good life, she's entitled to the best, and she'll do anything to get it. Even if it means piling up thousands of dollars in debt. Even if it means denying to everyone - even herself - that her love of shopping has gotten way out of control.

Love the author! I didn't like this story as much as the others. The over all message was good. I will refer this series to my friends.

I enjoyed this book, but felt that Alisha's character development could have been stronger, and an attempt to connect her childhood experiences with Pastor Curtis Black would have made the book better. I think that the author did a great job with Alisha's husband's character development. I enjoyed the book overall, and I would recommend it to others who enjoy this author.

Good read!

The Reverend Curtis Black series had a good run. I think this series should've ended with the fourth book. Those four books had me listening from beginning to end. This one is interesting but not mind blowing.

After book four in series it gets less interesting

I love the fact that we are seeing the growth of the characters. This story didn’t really pull on me like the others.
