Meet Hunter Buchanon, a towering mountain of a man who learned how to track prey in Georgia, kill in the Civil War, and prospect in the Black Hills of Dakota. Now he's trying to live a peaceful gun-free life - but fate has other plans for him....

When Hunter Buchanon rescued a wounded coyote pup - and named him Bobby Lee - he had no idea the cute little varmint would grow up to be such a loyal companion. Coyotes aren't known to be man's best friend. Most of them are as fierce and wild as the Black Hills they roam. But Bobby Lee is different. When Hunter is ambushed on the road, Bobby Lee leaps to his defense. And when the attacker tries to shoot Bobby Lee, Hunter returns the favor by hitting the man with a rock.

By the time the smoke clears, the coyote-loving ex-Confederate is covered in blood - and the other guy's got a knife in his chest. Now Hunter has to explain it all to the local sheriff. Which is going to be tough. Because the man he just killed is the sheriff's deputy....

Hard not to root for Hunter Buchanon. I really like the honorable man of integrity that Hunter is. Even more because he believes in killing.

Enjoyed this.

Great story and once I got used to the unusual “computer like” long pauses after every comma the story overcame the primitive “ai” style read. If the reader was artificial intelligence, then a little more programming needs to be done. If not, then the reader needs more training; ie: not every comma requires the same pause in a narration. But two thumbs up for an enjoyable book and a primitive “ai” listen.

I love the story but am curious about the narrator.

I started and stopped a few chapters into it. A couple months later I tried it again because I love this Author. Once again it took me a few chapters to get into it but I am glad I stuck it out. I couldn’t wait to get to the 2nd book on Hunter. Don’t give up on it!

Took a bit but was worth it in end

This is the absolutely worst narrator I heve ever heard. He puts commas in his speech at the most incorrect places. It was so annoying that I will consciously avoid any books he narrates. The story and the Johnstones deserve better.

Very bad narration.

fine story. a little scattered but fails to have and satisfying conclusions. just foreshadowing the next book. fine way to sell books. bad way to tell entertaining stories. a real disappointment!

soap opera ending.
