As an elite matchmaker with a type-A personality, my life is a series of perfectly executed plans, just like the fairy-tale love stories I craft for my clients. By day, it’s all about precision and success for them. But by night? I curl up in bed reading smutty, dark billionaire romance novels. It’s my little secret. My guilty pleasure adds a spark of mystery and romance to my otherwise orderly life. I know the stories aren't real. I know these things don't happen in real life. But oh, how I crave that kind of adventure.

Then the unexpected happened—I met Will Huntley. I was expecting the usual matchmaking request over coffee, but Will, the charming billionaire playboy, had a different plan. He didn’t want a date; he wanted a wife. Specifically, he wanted me to pretend to be his wife for a week. Leave my structured life for a ridiculous charade? This man has lost his handsome, sexy, muscular mind!

Before I could say no to his ridiculous plan, Will did the unthinkable—he kidnapped me. Next thing I know, I’m on his private jet, headed to Paris, living the kind of story I’ve only read about. But as we spend more time together and the line between pretense and reality blurs, I'm left wondering: Could this fake marriage to a billionaire be the adventure I’ve secretly yearned for? Could my fairy-tale marriage to Will Huntley become part of my reality?

From award-winning writer and creator, Taccara Martin, The Black Wife Effect is a laugh-out-loud romantic comedy that will sweep you off your feet and keep you hooked from start to finish. Join Timantha and Will on a whirlwind journey full of unexpected twists, hilarious mishaps, and heartwarming moments as they navigate the fine line between fantasy and reality in the enchanting city of Paris.

The Black Wife Effect is a quick read, interracial romance with good banter, spice on the page, and relatable characters. Bonus, this is the first of an interconnected series! This book is SO entertaining and hits on real-life experiences black women and those in interracial relationships face. Recommend for fans of billionaire romance, strong female leads, and/or romantized books that open the door for conversations about real topics.

My only wish was a different male narrator, but he didn't bug me enough to not listen ;)

I love it because it is written so you can connect with both story leads as much as they are different. This makes their relationship, or a fake relationship, very believable.

That trauma effects everyone in a relationship.

The story was a good listen but would have preferred more a duet style. The chemistry needed more of a connection listening to it. The story could have been fleshed out more and there was room to do it. Liked it but didn’t love it.
