I put off purchasing this title for a while but I am very happy I finally got it. The performance was fantastic and the story was captivating and fun. The book has a more casual feel but I couldn't bring myself to willingly put it down. I greatly wish for this new author to continue the series and their writing career and look forward to future reads and listens.

Most enjoyable title in a while

This book reminded me of many of a typical shonen anime. It was filled with action and humor, also the MC was obscenely over-powered. If you like LitRPG and shonen anime you will likely enjoy this book as well.

Felt like an Anime

It reads like a collection of stories (with the same characters). When listening, it's sometimes hard to follow when the plot jumps.

My biggest problem was tone. It goes from funny (join the undead, we have cookies) to dark (kill the women and children infected with mind-controlling worms) too fast for me. I also never understood character motivations that well. In a young-adult comedy I could forgive that. But there were sections closer to a dark and/or dramatic story, where I need more information to emphasize with the characters or it's just weird.

The skeletons were pretty good comic relief.
Mare Trevathan did a very good job narrating.

Liked the funny bits, but hard to follow overall
