This “chilling” (USA TODAY) New York Times bestseller from Manhattan sex-crimes prosecutor Linda Fairstein sends Assistant D.A. Alexandra Cooper on a harrowing investigation deep inside New York City’s most magnificent and mysterious museums.

In the Metropolitan Museum of Art's exquisite Temple of Dendur, a monument to an ancient world, a very modern debate is raging at a gala dinner: a controversial new exhibit is fiercely opposed by many among the upper echelon of museum donors. Alex Cooper steps into this highly charged ring of power players only to make a much more troubling discovery: a young museum researcher has been murdered, her body shipped to the Met in an ancient Egyptian sarcophagus. Together with cops Mike Chapman and Mercer Wallace, Alex must penetrate the realm of the city's cultural elite to find a killer intent on keeping some secrets buried for eternity.©2003 Linda Fairstein. The characters are well developed and the plot is well designed. I really love museum mysteries and this one is well written.

Great Book!

This is the first book I have audio-read by this author. Narrator was very good.

Intriguing

I will try others of hers so I can get a better feel for her style of writing, but it didn't seem to hold much mystery for me. I think the plot could have done deeper and been a lot more meaty.

My first Fairstein read

The characters were boring and vacant and the story line unbelievable...with a supernatural ending that just didn't wash with me. I did learn a few things about museum collections, etc and that part was of some interest but as a mystery it was lacking.

Glad it was finally over
