A magical woman in hiding unleashes deadly powers and becomes her oppressive ruler's greatest fear in the fourth installment of this progression fantasy.

Having brought down all the kings of Potestia, Lillith embarks on fulfilling her avenging promise to the feline Ember. Though still grieving the death of her brother, she plans to cross the border into the Republic lands and kill every sage keeping the population under magical control. But the sages have been preparing for this, stoking fear in their subjects by prophesizing the coming of death in the form of a destructive demon queen—who looks remarkably like Lillith.

To sway public opinion, Lillith decides to hide in plain sight, volunteering to fight in a gladiatorial arena while cosplaying as . . . herself. Meanwhile, the mutated victims of the Radiant Woods have escaped containment and are attacking the settlements where her friends and family still live. Manning their defenses, the common folk soon begin to feed into the sages' ambitious scheme for domination as they turn against one another.

But back in the Republic, nothing is going as planned. The woman once seen as an enemy is winning the hearts of the people. And as Lillith's fame increases, so does her mana, giving her the strength to cast more powerful spells and further transform her body. Daily battles in the arena are one thing. But a showdown with the sages just might give her the closure she needs to bring peace and empowerment to those she champions—and herself. That is, if her heart and soul survive . . .

One of few books that keeps up the pressure! complex charecters continue to grow and change in a world full of deadly and arrogant enemies/mysteries. Each new book has you both sympathize and question choices made(in a good way lol). Amazing combat and the authors ability to convey how a situation feels brings each revelation, setback or triumph to life. Looking forward to the next book!

Continued Excellence

I love this series but half povs are just unnecessary this entire book kinda feels like filler because of it and, none of Leo's/Charlotte's povs does anything for the plot but there like 6 chapters of them and it feels like a interruption to the narration. overall I still enjoyed it just hope the next one can be as good as the first two of the series.
ps I love the names Charlotte and Leo.

povs were off putting and mostly unnecessary
