What did you love best about The Cardinal of the Kremlin?

Just like real life, it's complicated, never black and white but multifaceted. Not just the US/USSR viewpoints but an Afgan viewpoint that keeps you wondering just how it was going to fit into the story.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

Unlike the Hunt for Red October, the story does not tell you when it changes locations, so you have to stay on your toes to know if you are in Afganistan, Russia, USA, etc.

What aspect of Michael Prichard’s performance would you have changed?

I started audiobooks with Vince Flynn and George Guidall and was accustomed to being able to pick out a voice without the narrator saying who the character was. Michael Prichard's performance was that of one reading a book to you and not a performance of the book for you.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

From a veterans viewpoint, the location and burial of Cardinal was very touching.

A great follow up to "Hunt for Red October"

A wonderful novel. I wasn’t sure how some of the Afghan operations related to the overall narrative, but it was well worth the listen. Highly recommend.

I love Clancy novels in the Ryan series. This one about the Cardinal is exceptional. The reading of the book had good pace and kept my attention well but was frustrating in that it was dry and had little discernable variety in character accent or personality which made it hard to follow who's voice and thoughts he was reading sometimes. I give the book an A+ and the reading a B-
