He just wanted his exosuit back. She was out to save her brother.
What they got were bloodthirsty aliens... And maybe the end of the world.
Prepare for 39+ hours of rip-roaring sci-fi adventure!

In a world devastated by alien invasion, Jarek and Rachel were never paragons of heroism. They survived, same as anyone else. They protected what was dear—Jarek with his exosuit and beloved AI companion, Rachel with her brother. They kept things simple... until the raknoth came and took it all away.

Now, Jarek and Rachel will stop at nothing to protect what's theirs, even if it means swallowing their pride and working together to survive. Because it turns out the raknoth are only the beginning of the bad news for Mother Earth...

What do a smart-mouthed sword-slinger and a surly arcanist have in common? Neither of them signed up for this crap. But together, they might just be strong enough to finish it. Assuming they don't kill each other first...

Are you ready to suit up and save the world?

This was a great series, please don't get me wrong when I say but... I hated how it ended. I won't leave any spoilers but I wanted more closure.

Loved and Hated it!

It’s not what I expected… and so much more. You’re in for an authentic sci-fi experience. I’m sad my time with it is over, but it won’t be long before I queue it for a second listen. It's that good. Cheers!

So Fun and Interesting

Ultimately this is a well written series that has fun with it's sci-fi roots, and was enjoyable that it had a real sense of familiarity to it in the use of natural modern language and wasn't... stuffy old man sci-fi. I wish there had been a little more depth given to explaining some of the technology and fantasy elements - unless I nodded off in those specific parts much of the world is explained away as "it just is," which left me wanting.

The characters themselves are fairly well developed but also well within their archetypes, everyone felt just a little bit too cookie-cutter in their language and actions. The plot itself has a few twists in it that were pleasant discoveries and while the main arc follows a fairly predictable path it's enjoyable enough as it progresses.

That all sounds a little harsher than it needs to be though. I enjoyed the series and would recommend it if for no other reason than it is fresh and different from many other titles.

The dips into romance felt a bit... awkward though, like the author was considering a new genre and was dipping his toes in the water for a paragraph here and there to see how it would go. Fit perfectly in the story, but the shift in storytelling just didn't mesh with the rest of the novels.

Fun, but... trope-ish

I liked the quirkiness of the lead character !! He always found a way to deliver a punchline...even without a joke !

good fun action
