Violet Zennor was raised fighting in underground arenas. Ruthless and skilled, she becomes an heiress after her father's death. But her freedom is short-lived. Her father planned to send her to the Darklands, where her stillborn brother was sold. Despite pressure, Violet refuses. After an assassination attempt, she realizes she must confront her father's legacy. Seeking help from Miren, Ellie, and Asher, she prepares for the ultimate journey: into the Darklands, to the Anchorhold. This gripping tale explores a sinister fantasy world where blood is power and magic is a weapon.

Dark, atmospheric, and richly unsettling. This gothic fantasy weaves folklore, danger, and quiet menace into a story that feels both brutal and beautiful. Perfect for readers who enjoy moody worlds and morally complex characters. 🩸🖤📚

I love the story and loved the appearances of my favorite characters from previous books even more.. but the narration was dreadful. I don’t think it’s ever taken me this long to get through a book this short. Weird pauses and off-putting intonation made it almost painful to listen to.

Great story

Strong storytelling from a skilled writer that brings back favorites, offers a ha moments for the not so strong entry, and maintains all of the witchy, Gothic Wonder that is Slatter's gift.

A satisfying ending to a trilogy that's 'not' a trilogy

I was really hoping this book would be more like the first two, Murmuring Bones and Path of Thorns but was unfortunately more like the Briar book of the Dead and every other YA adventure book out there. The first were so refreshing and different than most books but the last two fell flat and remind me of every other book out there. The reader is ok but the first two were much better and used unique voices for the characters. This one was just a typical young woman’s voice. Nothing special like the others.

Not my favorite…
