"The bluest of blood, the boldest of hearts; the de Montforte brothers will take your breath away."

Blessed - or perhaps cursed - with a fiery temper, a strong will, and a blatant disregard for his brother's wishes, Lord Andrew de Montforte's only desire is to be left alone. But after being caught in a compromising position with tempting Lady Celsiana Blake, the brilliant and brooding scientist/inventor is forced into marriage in this fast-paced, jocular tale in which a supporting cast of beloved pets, the warm and eccentric de Montforte brothers, and the Machiavellian influence of the mighty duke of Blackheath once again play a role...

I love this series each book is better & better. With romance mystery, evil & good the youngest brother finds love, after nearly losing his life in the last book and is left with side effects. I can't wait to read the next one. It is 4 am it is a book you can't put down.

If you could sum up The Defiant One in three words, what would they be?

Imaginative, sexy and fun!

What did you like best about this story?

I liked the entire story. The hero was smart, handsome and capable, but with a very real obstacle to overcome. The heroine was, in her own eyes, less than perfect, but with a huge heart and loved animals. Although neither was interested in a relationship, the author used a very interesting 'motivator' and employed the hero's matchmaking older brother to help the situation along.

Have you listened to any of David Stifel’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I have listened to Mr. Stifel's narration of the first two books in this series. This third book is his best so far!! His performance of the wry, self-assured, aristocratic matchmaking brother, Lucien, is absolutely perfect. He excels at emotionality and pacing a story. I can't wait to listen to the fourth book!!

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I wanted to listen in one sitting, yes, but the book was almost 12 hours long, so was not able to.

Any additional comments?

This book was a lot of fun! Having already read the entire series, I was very familiar with the characters and loved hearing them performed.

So Entertaining! I Laughed Out Loud!!

I have enjoyed all of the books in this series, but so far Andrew “the defiant one” is my favorite. Yet, I cannot wait to read/listen to “the wicked one”. I suspect it will exceed this one.

My favorite of the series so far

Would you listen to The Defiant One again? Why?

Yes, I really like Andrew and his unconventional methods and scientific ways. His girl is feisty too.

What about David Stifel’s performance did you like?

As I've mentioned in other reviews, Lucien's voice is how I will always remember him.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Most certainly. In fact, I've already loaned out my Kindle copy several times over.

What other book might you compare The Defiant One to and why?

The entire De Montforte series is so original that I can't really compare to any others. If I had to compare it, however, I'd say Jennifer Ashley's Mackenzie series would be slightly similar, as it features a family of strong, manly, and completely unforgetable brothers.

Which character – as performed by David Stifel – was your favorite?

Lucien, the dark and brooding Duke of Blackheath. That voice alone is worth downloading the entire series. I absolutely melted into a puddle.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I laughed so hard at moments that I had to pause the book. Then I blushed so profusely at other times that I had to stop listening to it in public. It is just beautiful and you feel every emotion right along with the characters.

Any additional comments?

I love this entire series, both the books and the Audiobooks and recommend them to everyone!
