Through the peepholes I saw my most secret desires playing out before my eyes. One of the gents I watched was deliciously handsome with brooding stormy eyes and darling black curls. So taken was I that he haunted my dreams. I knew the comely young man only by a number, 27 as none of the queer fellows who attended Wychwood gave their names.
27 didn’t know I existed.
But when I saw how he got into trouble with a violent partner, I didn’t think twice about rushing to his aid. It was in my nature to help him...even if it cost me my job... and my heart.

This book is a gay historical romance with voyeurism, dub-con, upper/lower classes romance, a dastardly villain, revenge, and a HEA.

Post-trauma love

This story is such a balm. Although it comes with its own share of trigger warnings, it was an actual delight to see them grow :)

That was a well crafted book. I enjoyed it. I’d be happy to read more of their story.
Narration was excellent.

Interesting story, but some problematic scenes

Overall, this could've been really good. I liked the premise and thought it had potential. But there were a few scenes, one in particular, that were so problematic and gave me the ick. The author's choice to include them was questionable and it felt really uncomfortable going forward. I also get really annoyed with books where a MC is dealing with major trauma, but then LOVE and it's all fine. That's not how trauma works! And this didn't just happen with the MC, but also with a side character as well.
I liked the narration though.

No One Compairs to Cornell Collins

When it comes to books set in the 18 and early 1900s, Cornell Collins is a cut above the rest. His accents, whether it's the cut-glass aristocracy or penniless beggar, he is spot on! I could listen to him read the phone book 🥰.
I enjoyed this story and wondered how they were going to get around that stodgy bstd with his well-connected friends. All's well that ends well!

Yawn

Seriously boring. The narrator was what gave it two stars rather than one. I couldn’t be less invested in characters.
