He draws her close, envelops her as if with wings. She does not resist him or the kisses over her face when he tilts her chin up; she lets him, exposing the flesh of her throat. When she goes home that day she will wear the marks of the devil, the clinging smell of oil, the bruising of her neck. Editorial reviews

Children’s Book Council of Australia and Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award winner Sonya Hartnett creates a dark world where gothic horror, romance, and fantasy blend with the nightmare of mental instability. Caroline Lee, honored for her audiobook and stage performances, chills in describing events set in motion once Kitten hears from the twin devils that the "natural parents" desire him to grow into the new "Devil Latch", and is unsettling in relaying the threat to his new neighbor, Amy, who is drawn into efforts that must include destroying Kitten’s grandfather’s evil legacy.

It's a very good story, jusy a little hard to follow with the main character taking on so many personalities. I couldnt always tell which one was coming out or which one was talking in his head. Otherwise, it was a fascinating story.

slightly confusing

I was on the edge of my seat, for about 30 minutes. The main character IS creepy. Nothing happened. After that it was an excruciating test of will to continue reading, hoping that SOMETHING would happen. Maybe in a second? Maybe in a minute? Good grief! This was an exasperating, unsatisfying read. Also, there was an audio tag saying it was Audible Kids. I don't think some of the language makes it appropriate for kids of any age.

Riveting...?

This novel was very intense and keeps you rivited to the story. It is very differant from a lot of horror stories. It is well worth the price and is something that can be listened to more then once
