Crafted 3500 years ago, the first Bible concealed a dark secret – a missing page, torn from its sacred binding. Rumours claimed it wasn't penned by a saint or prophet, but by the Devil himself, revealing the gateway to Hell.

In June 2020, a mysterious Middle Eastern earthquake unveiled this long-hidden page, unleashing global terrors: parasitic plagues, grotesque deformities and monstrous entities rising from the ocean's abyss – creatures never meant for daylight.

Drake Stoker, a skeptical ex-Reaper Special Forces operative, joins forces with the Templar Knights, a clandestine Vatican order. Driven by personal motives, Drake, alongside the Knights, must locate and seal this infernal portal before Hell spills over and the Devil walks free.

The plot is very exciting! Decent characters as well. However, the story gets a little repetitive after the half way mark. Also, there are some inconsistencies w/ many of the characters - for e.g., Isabella is supposed to be this badass knight handpicked by the Pope to get the job done, but she seems to possess very few skills once inside the cave and looks up to Drake for guidance. Then there’s Benson who’s the big guy who supposedly doesn’t know how to swim - and he’s a reaper, seriously? And then there are some cheesy dialogues when they are facing death…

I am a big fan of Greig‘a books and loved the plot of this one. But it just felt like rushed after the half way point and not a lot of thought put into polishing it.

Could have been great

Beck’s characters travel a very interestingly imagined road through Dante’s Inferno. The descriptions are very well done and leaves one wanting more.
My biggest complaint with Beck’s books is the narrator. I wish he would review pronunciations of words prior to recording, his pacing is weird and I suffer thru the books because I want to finish them. Not my first time complaining about San Mangan.
