Secrets aren’t the only things that won’t stay buried.

When an earthquake strikes downtown Denver, far from the nearest active fault system, the USGS dispatches Dr. Dayna Raines and an emergency response team to investigate. They discover that the epicenter corresponds to a decommissioned deep injection well once used by the U.S. Army to dispose of chemical weapons, which have eroded the earth and created the unstable cavern system responsible for the seismic activity.

Their mission is to descend into the unknown depths, evaluate the fault zone, and initiate a controlled demolition of the subterranean cavity before another earthquake strikes, causing a mass casualty event. And they’re running out of time.

But military scientists had been experimenting with even deadlier armaments, including a biological organism so lethal that they were forced to bury it two miles down, where no one would ever find it.

Until now.

Interesting creature feature

This book makes me wonder what our government in their secret Black ops labs. Hmmm

Excellent read chock full of technical details.

I will probably listen again in a few months to get further information about the science. Definitely worth several listens.

Great Storyline

I liked the medical information tied into the story. Likeable main character. This topic really makes you think.

A very 'meh' book

The narration was ok, not great but ok, but the overall incompetence, the weak female characters, overbearing military and obsurd story just left me wanting it to be over. Everyone is like a walking cliche. I gave up with a little over 2 hours left.

Horrible

This book lacked depth and substance. The plot felt shallow, and instead of building a compelling narrative, Michael chose to inject a heavy-handed political agenda, comparing military atrocities to fracking, a topic he clearly doesn’t understand. If you’re going to write a story, focus on telling a good one, don’t use it as a platform for uninformed commentary.
