A new and gripping psychological thriller with a medical twist, perfect for fans of Harriet Tyce, B A Paris and Doctor Foster.

Care giver, life saver… or cold-blooded killer?

Running away from a past she’d rather forget, Doctor Alison Wilson has moved to a new town to take up the role of Medical Officer at failing hospital St Margaret’s.

Tasked with shaking things up, she quickly learns that things are worse than they initially seem: patient records are in disarray, staff morale is low, and there’s something afoot that she can’t quite put her finger on…

As Alison starts to dig into the hospital’s past, she gradually discovers a trail of lies that runs deeper and darker than she could have ever imagined.

There’s a cold-blooded killer in the hospital. And they’re hiding in plain sight…

Loved it, twist on who the killer is. Left me questioning myself from time to time. Believable. Some parts make me want to shake the FMC. But overall finished it and super happy it was our book club choice.

Unnerving, twisted, but definitely worth it.

A brilliant and captivating thriller, "The Doctor" grabbed my attention from the very beginning. Author Annie Payne weaves a mystery that kept me enthralled. We follow Doctor Alison Wilson as she uncovers a web of lies and deceit in a failing hospital. Tamsin Kennard is absolutely delightful as a narrator and the reason I chose the book. I search Audible by narrator and have been successful. She is, as always, spot-on; her vocal skills shine above and beyond. I have accumulated quite a vast collection of Kennard’s books for good reason. I'll be seeking more from Payne and Kennard. Worth a treasured credit. I was ecstatic that I found it for a few bucks in Audible’s "Deals" section. Highly recommended and epic, indeed!
