In Jonathan Maberry's The Dragon Factory, Joe Ledger and the DMS (Department of Military Sciences) face their deadliest threat yet when they go up against two competing groups of geneticists bent on world domination.

One side is creating exotic transgenic monsters and genetically enhanced mercenary armies; the other is using 21st century technology to continue the Nazi Master Race program begun by Josef Mengele. Both sides want to see the DMS destroyed, and they've drawn first blood. Neither side is prepared for Joe Ledger as he leads Echo Team to war under a black flag.

"Listeners will find themselves entranced by [Ray] Porter’s terrific narration." —AudioFile on The Dragon Factory (Earphones Award winner)

Ray Porter is the best narrator. Mayberry is an epic author. This series is honestly awesome!

Not what I saw coming

So far the Maeberry/Porter combos have been a lot of fun. It's pulp and fast paced. Ray Porter has been a personal favorite and with Maeberry's pacing, this was a good listen.

It borders on sci-fi/horror but still feels like a political thriller. Much of Maeberry's stories feel more fantastic than scientific. There is, however an effort to ground it in existing concepts. His descriptions feel visceral and almost tactile, which builds great atmosphere. The overall message and theme are good (punching nazis = great entertainment), but doesn't try to take it self too seriously in other ways.

If you like this author and narrator, I'd recommend. This isn't Tolstoy, or anything so don't expect some grand philosophical message.

It's a lot of damn fun, though!

Very Engaging

Joe ledger is my hero and Jonathan Mayberry is one of the best authors in action pack series that I’ve ever listened to. We can’t forget Ray Porter that brings it all together! Thanks guys!!!

The only thing good about this book was the narrator Ray Porter, he is the best hands-down!
This will be the last Jonathon Mayberry/Joe ledger book I ever read
Way over the top. Genetically engineered unicorns, dragons, Neanderthals, and humans. Genetically mutated Nazi SS officers, surely the author could've thought up something more original than that same old crap.
White people bashing and the author has to interject his political beliefs in the story. We can't even escape in a book without hearing about politics!
Then there was the Joe ledger character who can defeat a dozen or more genetically engineered 300 pound monsters single handedly.
This could have been a good story and good read, perhaps Jonathon Mayberry has run out of creativity.

Great narration
