A champion in chains, a demigod in hiding, and a dragon betrayed.

The new prince of Tara rules the City of the Eternal Siege, and nothing will get in his way - all must kneel before him or die.

But what is power without the woman he desires? For 300 years, the prince has longed for Aila, wanting her as his bride.

Now that the City is in his hands, he will do anything to possess her, even if it means plunging the City into a new civil war.

Beneath the great walls, the heart of the black dragon is filled with despair. Back in chains with no hope of freedom, she longs for death. Her only reason to live is her rider - but is Maddie enough?

At the very start of the series I wasn't sure I would be able to get into the story. Between the accent & understanding the world being created, it was a bit of a challenge & more than a little confusing, but once I got used to everything & picturing what was happening, everything was fine. Soon the story takes shape, the characters come alive & I found myself laughing, angry, sad, & at times a bit teary. I don't always understand the author's choices on things, but I am enjoying it & want to know what will happen next. Definitely worth the time.

World & character building & how things connect

I liked the idea of godlike power. I disliked initially the roundabout ways the cities & weather were critical to the story.

The characters had depth and their storylines developed wonderfully.

There is nothing to dislike. The character build up of each “player” in this book is very well developed and every twist and turn will keep you glued to it. Bravo! The reader is also amazing.

Loving this series!
