This is exactly what I was looking for! I wanted an audio program that included a set of "tips" on how to better improve my voice for public speaking, as well a set of guided exercises to train and strengthen my voice. If that's what you're looking for, then this is the audio program for you! The voice workouts within "The Executive Voice Trainer" have been been invaluable to the improvement of my public speaking. I wish I had known about these exercises years ago!

This book is great except for the timing. It is a listen and repeat book, meaning you hear it then repeat. Easy to understand, in fact so easy you don't need them to say, "Repeat" after every single example. This makes the exercises take a little longer than needed. Also, sometimes it rushes you, not quite giving you enough time to actually repeat the sentence before the next one begins. This could be me, but I don't think so. It only seems to happen in a few spots.

That aside it is full of sound advice and exercises that work.

Definitely worth listening to and applying the principles. In an age where communication is lost, this is a gem.

Oldie but goodie

The exercises are good, if slightly over-repeated, and the advice is sound. However, over half of the book is dedicated to overcoming regional accents. If you already have a "midwest" accent, as I do, then you'll be bored (and perhaps annoyed) during lengthy sessions on how not to drop R's, correct slow Southern-based speech patterns, and not say "axe" for "ask".

Best if you have an accent

if you don't have a regional accent, like dropping r's or d's or t's, then skip to the exercises that are about halfway in. it gets pretty tiring when you hear him say "repeat" over and over and over again. i wasn't pleased with the sound of the speakers voice either, maybe he has cotton in his mouth?
my voice is high pitched, and i was hoping for something to increase the range so that i can learn to speak in lower tones, but the humming exercises just don't do it for me, and i still practice them anyways? so far nada, still hoping though.

a pretty darn slow listen
