Dive into the transformative power of the early church with The Fire is Not Optional: Recovering the Baptism of Jesus and the Message of the Early Church. This compelling exploration of the Book of Acts unveils the raw, unfiltered sermons that turned the world upside down, revealing a gospel centered not on fear or condemnation, but on the radical grace and resurrection power of Jesus Christ.

Author and Speaker, Bill Vanderbush, takes readers on a journey through the first sermons preached by the apostles, illuminating the simplicity and power of their message: Jesus is risen, and His finished work on the cross offers freedom, healing, and reconciliation to all. From Peter’s bold proclamation at Pentecost to Paul’s revolutionary teachings before kings and councils, this book uncovers the heart of the gospel—a message untainted by religious embellishments or threats of eternal torment.

With profound insights, The Fire is Not Optional contrasts the baptism of water with the transformative baptism of fire, emphasizing the indispensable role of the Holy Spirit in awakening believers to their true identity in Christ. Vanderbush challenges modern Christianity to return to the unadulterated gospel of grace, where miracles, deliverance, and unity flow naturally from a revelation of Jesus’ love and victory.

Perfect for believers seeking a deeper understanding of the New Covenant, pastors longing to preach with apostolic fire, and anyone hungry for a faith that radiates joy and power, this book is both a scholarly reflection and a passionate call to embrace the hyper-grace of God. Discover why the early church thrived without formulas or fear, and learn how to live in reconciled rest, empowered by the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit.

This is a wonderful book. Thankfully I have the Kindle edition to read. The narration is very disappointing - especially the accent. The speed is also disconcerting. The volume is set wrongly as well. Even with the volume control on max, it is barely “audible”. All in all, the Audible version does not come near to doing justice to the beauty of this book.

Poor narration of a great book
