This omnibus contains the first three novels of the Frith Chronicles, all of which are also sold separately:

  • Book 1: Knightmare Arcanist
  • Book 2: Dread Pirate Arcanist
  • Book 3: Coliseum Arcanist

Volke Savan has always wanted to be an arcanist - someone who has bonded with a mystical creature and is capable of wielding magic. Phoenix arcanists can create fire and heal, hydra arcanists can create poison and recover from most injuries, and knightmare arcanists are masters of shadow and fear.

After bonding with a mystical creature, Volke travels to the mainland, fighting through pirates, tournaments, and dastardly scoundrels, all to follow in the footsteps of legendary swashbucklers and heroes alike.

Critic reviews

"Knightmare Arcanist by Shami Stovall was rollicking good fun! Perfect for those who enjoy the Codex Alera series, the Homas Wildus series and the Harry Potter series. Stovall is quickly becoming a name I look for." (Seattle Book Review)

"Dread Pirate Arcanist was everything I had hoped it would be, and then some." (Coffee Pot Book Club)

"Building on the fantastic story and characters of the previous installments, Coliseum Arcanist is a brilliant continuation of the Frith Chronicles as well as a triumph in its own right." (ManyBooks)

A fantastic story for fantasy fantatics and those with a sense of wanderlust. Loving the story and the migcal mystical animals and their bonds with arcanist and all the colorful, unique and sometimes dark places they visit. My one major issue, was with random audio issues. Certain things like, chapter titled were very loud as well as certain very brief characters. I had a hard time listening due to the audio book after book 1 being significantly quieter... It was frustrating at times but I finished the arc. I'm glad I did and I will go onto the next book hoping the audio issues have been resolved.

The world building is great and the magic system is great. I like how all the Eldrins have different magic and abilities. If you like Pokemon and magic adventures then I recommend the arcanist series. I'm curious what other Eldrins the author can come up with. I do hope more people start liking this series. I want more people to talk to about this. Even some movie or TV show would be fun.

I loved the books 1 through 3, and the reader was amazing. However, the narrator would constantly sound good and then suddenly be very loud, then suddenly very quiet. I keep my headphones at a set volume so I don't hurt my ears but it hurts when the narrator suddenly cuts in loud, almost shouting narrations.

I like the special effects for the combined voices of Vulc and Luthair.

Essentially everything was good, but the narrator needed to have a set volume and turn the gain down on whatever microphone he was using when shouting and turn it back up when speaking normally.
