When her five-year-old daughter disappears from the park, Carrie is distraught and she blames herself. Has her inability to read facial expressions put her child in danger?

Yet just days later, a stranger finds Sofia in an abandoned shed. She's scared but unharmed and Carrie is relieved to have her home.

But the police have no leads on who might have taken her and when another child is taken, it's clear Sofia is still in danger. And the threat might be closer than they think. . .

'Compulsive, scary and breathtakingly original' (Dreda Say Mitchell) this gripping emotional thriller is perfect for fans of STRANGERS by C. L. Taylor, THE FAMILY UPSTAIRS by Lisa Jewell and THE OTHER DAUGHTER by Shalini Boland.

Not one boring part. I had no idea who the “ bad guy” was because of how brilliantly the author portrayed Carrie and showing them through her eyes. Just a wonderful book that I couldn’t put down. I hope this author has more books this fantastic! Also I just loved carrie’s voice

Amazing I’d give it more stars if I could

the compelling main characters situation added a layer of suspense to every interaction. The writing was so evocative that the reader feels comfortably ensconced in that corner of London. All in all, a great listen.

compelling!

Author does a great job of playing a tug-of-war between the two Good Samaritans. Which one is guilty? Sometimes I got irritated at Carrie. Sometimes it’s obvious what’s going to happen. But all in all, a good whodunit. The reason I found this book is because this narrator is AMAZING. I listened to her narrate one of my favorite Mary Stewart books, and I really wanted to find more of her work. She does a wonderful job with this book, and her voice is always lovely to listen to. She does a very good job of performing Carrie’s necessary flat affect.

Very interesting
