"If you kill a witch who delivers a prophecy, it won’t come to be."

As a child, Cori delivered a prophecy that foretold all witches practicing dark magic would lose their power on a future winter solstice. When she spoke the words aloud, it put a target on her back—and tied her fate to a ticking clock.

After a decade of hiding and pushing away her magic, Cori moves to the idyllic town of Farley, Maine. She has one goal: keep her head down while counting down the days until the prophecy comes to pass. But the town—and the people that live there—are not what she expected.

When Cori meets Adrian Huxley, a local Water Elemental witch, her secret is no longer safe. The closer she gets to him, the harder it is to suppress her magic. When a visitor from the past makes her question the real reason she was sent into hiding—and the loyalty of the family she swore to protect—she realizes her life is not the only one in danger.

For fans of Spells for Forgetting and A Discovery of Witches comes a cozy, ethereal story about a witch who must face the dark truths of her past—risking everything she loves and everything she has worked for.

Cori and Adrian

The narrators did a good job. This was an interesting, cozy, fated mates story. Cori is s celestial witch who made a predicament that has others seeking to kill her in hopes of it not coming true. Some witches are also hiding her to protect her which where she meets Adrian her fated mate. I enjoyed it i found it informative about the different types of witches and there was wonderful characters especially the two who also end up arguing over old tv shows, two of my favorite shows.

Intresting!

This cool paranormal romance had some surprising twists and thankfully no cliffhanger. The story for the main couple was completed in this book, and it hinted at which minor character would star in the second book of the duology. I really look forward to the next book since I loved the magic system and all the characters in this book. I loved how the heroine Cori’s magic came from the celestial bodies, and I loved how useful and powerful the hero Adrian’s water magic was. The author wove a great story with a lot of suspense and creativity. The ending was very satisfying too. The bedroom scenes were steamy and frequent but not too frequent. There was not a dull moment.

The dual narration was wonderful. I have enjoyed Phillipa Miller’s performances for other authors, and she really shines here, bringing the story to life. She gives a sense of the ethereal and mysterious depths of Cori’s magic with her melodious and emotive voice. Nicholas Cain was new to me as a narrator, and I enjoyed his performance so much that I will seek out his other work. He has such a sexy voice for Adrian. The Maine accent comes and goes for Adrian, but perhaps that is how the character talked, adding an accent when he saw fit. Both narrators were great at differentiating characters, pacing, and everything. They really added to the entertainment value of the book.
