Bound by their shared war history, the pair develop an unlikely friendship, which unexpectedly hints at something more. But when Cora’s desire to help the women of the mountains crosses an unspoken line, will Jeb be able to protect this feisty flatlander from the wrath of the mountain men or will he end up losing much more than his heart?

Entertaining book

I enjoyed the story line of this book. It is well written and held my attention all the way through.

Kept me interested throughout. Beautifully written. Feel good book will take you back in time with moments of laughter, action, tears and love. All the while reminding you to keep faith in God.

Strength of the mountain

Loved being pulled into the lives of the mountain people. I didn't want to have it end. Hope there are more to come. the narrative was delightful.

Wonderful story!

What a wonderful story of people living in the Blue Ridge mountains! The hardships, joys, meanness, faith, love and so much more. This book seemed real, listening to the narrator telling of the close-knit families and others who inhabit the mountains, and the ones who came to serve. It was a story well told and I really enjoyed it!

Beautiful story with heart and unexpected turns.

Pepper, I really enjoy your writing! I am drawn in to each character and they end up living in places in my heart. The characters and the story are both well developed pulling the reader in with their minds and their hearts. Thank you for not being cookie cutter in your storytelling but taking us as readers along on a journey filled with true life, struggle, humor and lot of heart. I listen to a lot of audiobooks in my job and yours are my favorite. Please continue allowing your beautiful heart to shine through your stories.
