I totally enjoyed this reading! The reader is one of my favorites who makes the twelth century come to life with all of its struggles and passion.

Patrick Tull is one of the best narrators I've ever heard. And Ellis Peters' series about Cadfaels combines enthralling plot lines, intriguing historical detail, and incisive character development.

I did not remember much about this book except for the boy Richard and a dispute over his guardianship. This made the reread more exciting, almost like reading it for the first time. Great characters, as always, and an interesting plot makes for a darn good read. Greedy and overbearing grandmother tries to force her young grandson, only about 10 yrs old, into a marriage with a much older teenage girl who's being manipulated by her parents also. Other factors come into play in this story, such as the hermit who has taken up residence on the grandmother's property, and his aide who is on the run and being hunted by his former master. An excellent addition to the series.

I've listened to this book many times- it never disappoints! I only wish she were still alive and writing.
