If life really was a fairy tale, Zakara would never be the damsel in distress. She'd be a thief, and Prince Charming wouldn't have a clue how to steal the heart of the conniving criminal.

Zakara saves not one, but three men locked inside the tallest tower. Her first instinct is to ditch them as soon as possible, but they have one thing that intrigues her more than wealth: Magic.

Fae magic once ruled the world, until it disappeared without a trace. Only myths of the magic wielders linger in their destroyed society.

The three prisoners claim to be fae, but she doesn't trust them.

She doesn't trust anyone.

Can Prince Ryder convince the pretty thief to lead them to the Hopeless City? Or will she kill him before they even arrive?

Contains mature themes.

This was an outstanding adult fairytale with wonderful mystery and intrigue. It kept me listening in that fun way of saying to myself “just one more chapter and then I’ll go to sleep”. You’ll enjoy this series, I promise!! Enjoy!!!

I love these type of books but boy do I wish they had a second voice for the male parts. I think that would definitely bring more depth to the book. Otherwise it was good

Lots of fantasy with great characters and lots of love and sexiness... a little too much for my usual liking but really good storyline and what can you do if they are so crazy about each other and they have such intense and wild adventure ( sexually and life ).

Super fun fantastic and sexy

A.K. Koonce’s The Hopeless Series is a gripping and emotionally charged contemporary romance saga that delves deep into themes of love, trust, and personal growth. From the very first book, readers are drawn into a world where raw emotion and complex characters intertwine to create a story that is as heartwarming as it is heart-wrenching.

The series follows characters who face intense struggles with their pasts, trauma, and the difficulties of opening up to love again. Koonce’s writing style is candid and evocative, delivering dialogue and internal monologues that feel authentic and relatable. The characters, especially the leads, are richly developed with flaws and vulnerabilities that make their journeys compelling.

One of the standout aspects of the series is how it balances the heavier emotional moments with lighter, often humorous scenes, preventing the narrative from becoming overwhelmingly bleak. The chemistry between the main characters is palpable and grows in a believable way, with Koonce carefully pacing the development of their relationships.

Overall, The Hopeless Series is a powerful read for fans of new adult and contemporary romance who appreciate stories that explore healing and the complexities of love beyond the surface. It’s a poignant reminder that even when hope seems lost, connection and growth are always possible.
