THIS IS THE WAY THE WORLD ENDS

On a warm summer night in New York City, the apocalypse begins.

Within days, the deadly Medusa virus is sweeping the globe like a wildfire, pushing humanity to the brink of extinction.

As civilization crumbles around him, survivor Adam Fisher will discover a flicker of hope that will send him on a quest through a ruined American landscape.

He joins forces with Sarah Wells, a soldier harboring a tragic secret, and Freddie Briggs, an aging football star grieving the loss of his family.

To survive in their frightening post-plague world, the group must face challenges unlike any they have ever known, including the rise of a dangerous new enemy that will threaten the survivors' fragile existence.

The story is interesting, but the narration is the worst I’ve ever heard in an audiobook. The sample doesn’t provide the range of just how bad the narration is.

Horrible narration

I loved the story. Kept me interested all the way. Narrator was great also. Felt like he was reading the book just for me.

A great story

The protagonist is oddly a horrible dad, loner facing medical board problems who suddenly becomes a leader without cause. Few characters are developed and none well. Only black character is a homicidal maniac. Brutal depiction of everyone being either godless, spiritually naive or rejection of previous faith with “FY to God” used several times. Authors less than subtle atheism continues oddly with numerous “GD” and sarcastic references to Christianity or belief in general. Descriptions are glossed over for larger pictures but the books overflow with painfully laborious metaphors. Just about every scene is predictable based on author somehow seeing himself in the protagonist. The book actually would have been better had the idiot doctor stayed true to his character... man of weak character who is not heroic and a relational failure. And amazingly protagonist goes from being totally unable to hold a gun to magically (we are not told otherwise) quick draw & outshooting two different men with gun experience. Hmmmm. This genre deserves much better.

Poorly conceived & predictable

This story kept me on the edge from start to finish! Strong story development. Strong cast of characters. Characters you absolutely abhor and want to see taken down in the most painful of ways possible. And then characters you cheer for and cry for.

The frightening suspense that this author doles out is on par with some of the big timers out there. At times I kept expecting zombies to leap out around a corner though I knew full well that was not what this book was about. This story was to be taken a bit more seriously then your typical ZA novel, but the essence is just as if not more terrifying in its reality because this stuff can really happen… and it almost has on several occasions.

White knuckle stuff!

Good story not enough action for my liking. Good charter building with a few more words
