Dr. David Neiman's lectures on Jewish history connect the story of the Jewish people into the larger context of world history.

"Joseph and the Exodus" ties the story of Jewish slavery and freedom to archaeological and historical records. "David and Solomon" takes a critical look at the kings of Israel. "The History of the Talmud" is a dramatic account of the development of the Jewish legal system amid a changing political landscape.

In "The Politics of Purim" and "The History of Hanukah," the Jews play a pivotal role amid the clash of empires. And "The Khazarian Empire" explores the real story behind the legendary Jewish kingdom.

Where does The Jews in History rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Among those for which I would be glad to pay three times the price.

Which scene was your favorite?

Dr. Neiman makes sense of many things in the Old Testament that I had glossed over as being of little meaning to us today. He makes many connections with evidence from other traditions and from archaeology that I had only known as dry facts.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, I could hardly put it down.

Any additional comments?

These lectures cover more ground that the title might suggest.

Dr. Neiman infuses meaning into many things that had hitherto seemed like dry facts. He makes many important connections between elements from different traditions and from archaeology.

Dr.Neiman was one of those scholars of the old school who make me regret not having the qualities necessary to become one myself. With a vast store of knowledge in their minds, such scholars are able to draw together divers elements into a rich, dense web of understanding. To partake of such understanding is both enlightening and exhilarating. I am truly grateful that Dr.Neiman's lectures are available now as audiobooks; I only wish there were more. They count among those things that make me happy to be alive today.

illuminating, insightful and stimulating

Mr. Neiman offers very little evidence to promote his idea that the Bible can be used scientifically. He lists only evidence that supports his thesis and doesn't discuss any of the material that would go against his thesis. As Mark Twain said, "silence is the biggest lie of all".

This book cannot be considered scientific, it is Promotional only.
