Better and Better

Chris Dukehart has quickly become one of my favorite narrators. Her range is amazing, as is her consistency. Her work really brings this story to life (as it did the rest of the Guild Codex books).

I liked the first book in this set (The One and Only Crystal Druid). But I loved this second book!

I grow more attached to these characters with each new book. I can't wait for tge next one!

Aargh! How long do I have to wait for the next?!?

So many surprises and it makes you fall in love with our Druids companion. I think his pompous attitude makes him more lovable

Love Druid stories since the Oreo Druid series

Dislike the fact that the lead character could not get out of her own way but overall the story is great.

Mixed feelings

I'm so excited to continue to learn more about Zach's story, but Sabre is a bit much for me at times. Moody, willful, irresponsible, and with massive anger issues, it's tough to enjoy the story because I disliked her so much. She's self-aware enough to recognize her failings, but the girl simply CANNOT get out of her own way. It's hard to see why Zach sticks around, because she seems to have zero redeeming qualities. I stuck around for the ending (Annette Marie has a brilliant way of keeping you hooked), and I'm hopeful that the glimmer of personal growth we got at the end will mean that the next book is easier to digest.

(second rant) The lack of communication between Zach and Sabre is annoying. There are SO MANY signs of a massive miscommunication between them, but Sabre (who cannot get her head out of her arse) won't do anything but get stabby. She's like an angry feral cat with fleas.

I LOVED Anette Marie's other series, but this one has been a bit of a slog. Kudos to her, though, for being able to write such distinctive female leads.
