To unravel that long-lost summer, she had to follow the thread...

Florence Connelly is broken hearted. Her marriage has collapsed under the weight of the loss she shares with her husband, and her beloved grandmother has just died. Even the joy she found in dressmaking is gone.

But things change when Flo opens a box of vintage 1960s dress patterns found inside her grandmother's wardrobe. Inside each pattern packet is a fabric swatch, a postcard from Europe and a photograph of a mysterious young woman, Nancy Moon, wearing the hand-made dress.

Flo discovers that Nancy was a distant relation who took the boat train to Paris in 1962 and never returned. With no one to stay home for, Flo decides to follow Nancy's thread. She unravels an untold story of love and loss in her family's past. And begins to stitch the pieces of her own life back together.

It was a good story but too much detail in some parts, and not enough detail in other parts. It got to the point I thought come on get on with it. It had potential but meh…

It is very predictable and there are really no surprises, but it is an enjoyable story. Kept my interest anyway.

Pleasant story

Totally enjoyable tale of Flo’s search for the mysterious Nancy following a trail of dress patterns, pictures, postcards, and trinkets from decades before. With a little mystery, lost love, and family devotion, the story flips between the two main characters who lived decades apart yet evolves into a story of each woman trying to find herself as defined by the time period in which she lived. Excellent tale with a totally agreeable narrator! May have to dig out my old sewing machine now.

Awesome premise for a truly great story!

I loved the story and the book but want others to know there are a few places where there are cuss words. Not many and really not needed. The story is complex and delightful. To bad the author thought she had to throw in some gutter words. I DO recommend the book as a whole.
