Strange lights are spotted over the high desert of northern New Mexico. Unmarked helicopters fly to and from Archuleta Mesa on the Apache Reservation. A ranch foreman is found dead. And, after nearly a decade, livestock are being killed and mutilated, again.

Deputy Cliff Lansing is running for his first term as sheriff. In the midst of his campaign, the one-time rancher has to deal with divorce, the loss of a friend, and the gaggle of UFO enthusiasts who have descended on San Phillipe County.

Lansing joins forces with Ned Koteen, the newly appointed Apache Reservation Police Chief, to investigate government coverups, conspiracies, and murder. While Koteen struggles with tribal secrets, Lansing has to fight his own family's demons.

Not my favorite.

This story wasn't as centered around Native American culture as previous books, and that was a big part of what I liked about the others. It also didn't have as tidy an ending as the others. It was left pretty open ended.

I am really enjoying the sheriff Lansing series. I lived in New Mexico back in the seventies, brings back memories

This fast moving story was very entertaining and interesting. the characters were always on the go. they were constantly gathering info and clues!

Another book that I enjoyed listening to. I’ll have to see if there are more, but this was good, others were better.

THE MUTES

This is another great book in this series. I like the Native Americans thats involved. I like the small town atmosphere. I like how the sheriff doesn't take any B.S. from any outside law. Sheriff Lansing is running for election. There is strange sitings and unexplained things happening. Cows is found mutilated. Outside scientists has came to study the strange things happening. I do recommend listening to these in order. Eric G. Dove does a great job narrating this book. If my review is any help will you please click on the helpful link below. Thank you.
